The First Volume of Wolf and Parchment: New Theory Spice & Wolf.
The Winfiel Kingdom's prince has invited Tote Col to help correct the sins of the church. Col dreams of one day joining the holy clergy and departs from his job at Lawrence’s bathhouse "The Spice and Wolf Inn," to answer the call. But as his travels begin, Col discovers in his luggage a young girl with wolf's ears and a tail named Myuri who stowed away for the ride! This is the story of Wolf and Parchment, and the pair's travels that will someday change the world!
10 years have passed since the end of Spice and Wolf and Col has been helping Lawrence and Holo manage their bathhouse in Nyohira. After hearing that the prince of Winfiel needed his help, Col left the bathhouse to pursue his dream of one day becoming a part of the clergy. However, after he was far from shore he noticed that Holo and Lawrence’s daughter Myuri had stowed away on the ship. She could not stand the thought of Col leaving and wanted to go on his adventure with him. To Col's chagrin, they were too far from Nyohira to turn the ship around and return Myuri.
After they arrive at their destination, Col is tasked with translating the Bible into the common tongue. Unfortunately this draws the ire of the church because if everyone can read the scripture the church would be unable to control the people by altering the content when they give sermons.
